This vector illustration was done as a class project to accompany an article titled, “Benefits and Risks of Artificial Intelligence” (https://futureoflife.org/ai/benefits-risks-of-artificial-intelligence/). I was wanting to try my hand at vector portraiture, so I combined that with imagery that conveys the concept of computers creating themselves in the image of humans and humans downloading themselves as digital avatars. When putting in the binary code, I decided to make it relative to the illustration, it reads, “Don’t panic, join us, lovely you.” Below are a brainstorming list and a series of thumbnail sketches created during the ideation process of the project.
